Man free to attend birth of child after assaulting his heavily pregnant girlfriend
ByRichard Watt
An Angus man who punched and bit his girlfriend, who was eight-and-a-half months pregnant, has been granted bail so he can attend the birth.
Scott McCurrach said he was “remorseful” and lashed out as he was drinking heavily as he struggled to cope with the death of his father.
The 35-year-old admitted repeatedly punching his heavily pregnant girlfriend at an address in Montrose earlier this month. McCurrach knocked her over, seized her by the neck and then bit her.
He also admitted assaulting another woman on the same day and at the same place by hitting her in the face with his elbow.
The offshore worker will be free to attend the imminent birth of the pair’s child after Forfar Sheriff Court heard she was “keen” for him to be involved. He will be sentenced on June 25.
