Campaigners celebrate the refusal of Rossie Moor wind turbines
ByGraeme Strachan
Campaigners have won the latest fight in the eight-year battle against wind turbines being built at an Angus beauty spot.
The latest application the third since 2007 was for two turbines at Rossie Moor near Montrose.
It had prompted a string of objections including from Rossie School in Montrose which serves children with health and development issues such as autism, epilepsy and ADHD.
The school feared the constantly moving blades could disturb them while weary locals also warned the turbines would spoil the landscape and affect wildlife.
But it has been refused by Angus Council officers using delegated powers.
Because it did not come before councillors in Angus, the exact reasons for refusal are not yet known.
Applicants, Green Cat Renewables were unavailable for comment.
