Energy firm refuses to rule out appeal after Rossie Moor turbines rejected

Tellus Energy has not ruled out appealing Angus Council’s decision to refuse a controversial turbine application.

The latest application the third since 2007 was for two turbines at Rossie Moor, near Montrose, and prompted a string of objections.

It was lodged by Green Cat Renewables for Tellus Energy Ltd on behalf of landowner John Stirling in January after a similar application was withdrawn last year.

Cliff Lewin of Tellus Energy Limited said they were “extremely disappointed with the council’s decision.”

He said: “Following the concerns raised about the scale and potential impact of the previous application for three 80m turbines on the site, we met with the council to discuss whether a smaller scheme would be more appropriate.

“The indication that we had from them was that this smaller scheme would address their concerns and was likely to receive a positive recommendation.

“Following this meeting we took the proactive step of withdrawing the original application and drastically scaling down to the scheme, requiring a new submission and considerable time, effort and expense.

“To subsequently find out that the council is not supporting the scheme is particularly frustrating given the dialogue we had with them.

“I can’t comment at this stage on whether we will decide to appeal we will have to review the reasons for refusal and take it from there.”
