A new harbour master has been appointed by Montrose Port Authority.
Captain Tom Hutchison, 48, has detailed knowledge of the operational workings of Montrose Port, having been pilot and assistant harbour master from 2000 to 2012.
Before that he had 18 years’ sea-going experience that included nine years as master on cargo and container vessels working around the UK and Europe.
Most recently he was the skipper of a number of vessels conducting surveys for proposed offshore windfarm sites in the North Sea and Irish Sea.
He was the training master for a new support vessel based in Barrow-in-Furness.
Mr Hutchison, who lives in Montrose, said: “I know the port extremely well and I am delighted to have been appointed as harbour master.”
