A 57-year-old woman died while walking in Carnoustie House public park on Wednesday morning.
Police Scotland said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Despite claims that many Carnoustie High School pupils had been leftvisibily upsetafter watching paramedics attempt to save the life of the woman, police said this was not the case.
As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland attended Carnoustie House park on Wednesday morning in response to reports that a woman taken ill and collapsed.
“The family is understandably devastated and have asked for her name not to be released.
“There is no suggestion that young people witnessed the incident but as with any incident such as this we will liaise with the local school authority and offer support wherever appropriate.”
