Lifeboat crews and police called into action as Montrose swans take a gander
ByGraham Brown
Montrose lifeboat crew and members of the old bill were involved in an unusual weekend mission after a young family decided to have a gander at some of the town sights.
A family of swans brought traffic to a standstill on Saturday morning as they waddled their way along the Links and all the way to the famous Bamse statue before being shepherded into the water near the entrance to the Basin.
Jim Strachan of Montrose RNLI said: “I saw them passing my house with the police van escorting them and I knew there would be a few of the lads at the lifeboat station to give them a hand so we helped get them down into the water near the bridge.”
