A forest spectacular has been unveiled which will bring the woods of an Angus country park to life this autumn.
In an event which will deliver another night-time outdoor experience to Courier Country residents, Dragon Quest will see Monikie Country Park lit up and inhabited by giant figures in a state-of-the-art interactive adventure.
EventScotland and Angus Council are supporting the project, which could rival Perthshire’s award-winning Enchanted Forest and has been scheduled to take place over the same period as the Faskally Woods spectacle.
The Angus theatrical, mystical spectacular is being created in the Monikie woods from October 8 to November 1.
Vision Mechanics, the Edinburgh theatre company behind Big Man Walking, Giants in the Forest and Embrace is creating the story-telling event.
Huge illuminated installations will be created against a backdrop of music and giant figures in the picturesque setting of the country park.
A downloadable app has also been developed and will trigger animations of fairies, hovering flies and goblins as visitors walk through the woods in search of the ancient dragon that has supposedly come to rest there.
Paul Bush, director of events at VisitScotland, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Dragon Quest, which includes funding for the event’s gaming app development. Monikie Country Park presents a perfect setting for people looking for something different to do on an autumnal evening.”
Angus Council communities vice-convener Councillor Jeanette Gaul said: “Monikie Country Park is the ideal venue to set the scene for a magical spectacle for all the family. We look forward to welcoming visitors from across the county and further afield.”
