Stonehaven open-air pool has planned a series of late openings so people can swim beneath the stars.
Starting this week, the pool will be open from 10pm until midnight every Wednesday until August 12. Doors open from 9.30pm.
David Culshaw, vice-chairman of the Friends of the Pool, said: “The midnight swims are a real sign that summer has arrived in Stonehaven.
“Even if the weather is poor, the water is warm and fun is guaranteed.
“When the weather is good and the sky is clear, you really can swim beneath the stars.”
The pool is also now open for peak season, which means longer opening hours.
Inflatable sessions are now daily from 2 to 4pm, quiet swims from 10 to 11am, the main chute, ‘the shark slide’, open from 11am to 6pm and lane swimming available between 6 and 7.30pm on weekdays.
The terraces are a real suntrap on good days and there are also awnings and a covered area for protection from the sun and whatever else the weather might bring.
“Let’s hope that the warmer weather is here to stay for a while so that everyone can enjoy the pool at its best,” added David. “However, more and more people have been discovering the joys of swimming in the rain.
“If you’re in the pool, rain can’t make you any wetter and ducking down in the warm water is great when there’s rain on your back.”
The pool itself is open from 10am to 6pm at weekends, from 10am to 7.30pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 6.30am to 7.30pm Tuesdays and Fridays.
