Supermarket giant Asda has said heat is unlikely to be the reason a piece of its glass garden furniture “exploded”.
A photograph of a shattered Miami table has been circulating on social media, such as on the Facebay Carnoustie Facebook page, with the suggestion the glass shattered due to heat.
However, a spokeswoman for the company said only toughened glass is used in its garden furniture and that it is likely the glass had been damaged earlier.
She said: “We only use toughened safety glass in our garden furniture and have investigated this rare occurrence. We apologise to the customer and will be in touch with a resolution.”
