Angus head teacher will not face charges over claims of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ on trip
ByRichard Watt
A Tayside head teacher will not face criminal charges after allegations of inappropriate drunken behaviour on a school trip to Lockerbie, The Courier can reveal.
Gillian Rew was suspended from Arbroath High School after a sixth-year trip last year.
The teacher, a former depute rector at Morgan Academy in Dundee, is subject to an investigation by Angus Council, which has resumed.
A spokesman for the Crown Office told The Courier that after “full and careful consideration” of the circumstances no criminal proceedings will be taken.
Ms Rew was among staff members accompanying senior pupils on last year’s trip, which had been designed to reward the youngsters for their impressive performance during the academic year.
