The grim discovery was made in the early hours of this morning at a flat in a block at Christie’s Lane in the Angus town. The two-storey property remains cordoned off and detectives were continuing their examination of the scene. Police have said the death is being treated as unexplained at this time. No details of the victim or how he died have been released at this stage. Neighbours said they were shocked to wake up to the police presence in the area, but were unaware of any incident in the early hours. One woman said: “The first I knew was when we came out this morning and saw the police standing there at the front door. “I didn’t hear anything, but I’ve seen the police speaking to a couple of people who live in the block. I don’t really know what’s going on.” A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland attended at Christie’s Lane in Montrose at 6.15am on Sunday August 9 following the death of a man. “The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are continuing.”
