Police in Angus today returned to the scene of a serious sexual assault in hope of finding witnesses to the crime.
The move comes after a 21-year-old woman was attacked in Arbroath on Sunday night.
Detective Chief Inspector Bobby Dow and his team revisited the railway underpass adjacent to Morrisons and issued an appeal for information.
Police said the attack took place between 2.30am and 5am on Sunday.
It happened close to the supermarket and the railway underpass was cordoned off as inquiries were carried out.
DCI Dow said: “We have identified two people who were using a cash machine at the supermarket in those hours.
“They are not connected to the incident but I would urge them to come forward to help with our investigations.”
The extent of any injuries sustained by the woman have not been disclosed but police have described the incident as “particularly distressing” for the victim.
Officers conducted door-to-door checks with nearby residents in the Catherine Street area.
The attacker is described as a white male, of stocky build, around 5ft 10in tall and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark jeans, dark jacket and light trainers.
Anyone with information is asked to phone police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
