A bakery delivery driver’s temperature rose over a parking dispute outside his work, a court heard.
Semi-retired Robert Ferguson was reversing his works van into a space outside the Frost of Montrose premises when he got into an argument with another motorist.
The 69-year-old shouted and swore at the woman, who was trying to park her silver Chrysler Voyager in the same High Street space.
He then reversed the bakery van into the space where she was standing, the court heard.
Depute fiscal Jim Eodonable told Forfar Sheriff Court the woman thought Ferguson was “jumping the queue” while he was parking outside his work just before 11am on August 21 last year.
Ferguson got out of his van and shouted and swore at the woman, who sustained a “glancing blow” to her arm when he then reversed his vehicle into her, the court heard.
Solicitor Nick Markowski said his client “lost his temper” and wanted to apologise to the court.
“He thought she’d gone inside the shop to complain but she was behind the van,” he added. “He couldn’t see her and reversed.
“He didn’t expect to be in the court at this stage of his life.
“Mr Ferguson’s employers are disappointed in him but he’s still in employment.”
Ferguson, of Broomfield Road, admitted causing a breach of the peace, shouting and swearing at the woman.
He further admitted driving without due care and attention in that he caused her to brake sharply and he reversed into her.
He was fined £425.
