The Reid Hall will be back in business this weekend following a £186,000 revamp.
The refurbishment was financed with £176,500 from Forfar Common Good Fund, with a top up from Angus Council to enhance the wi-fi capacity in the building.
The major investment in the landmark building has improved both the facilities and the function of the venue and the refurbishment has included the main hall, meeting rooms, and changing facilities. The kitchen has also been upgraded and a new servery installed.
Another key element of the work has been to improve access to the building for people with disabilities.
The 800-capacity venue has been fully equipped with conference-standard wi-fi and updated AV facilities.
Councillor Jeanette Gaul, communities vice-convener, said: “The Reid Hall is a major venue in Angus and this latest investment has allowed us to upgrade it to high standard. The revamped facilities are really impressive and add to the versatility of the venue.
“Front of house is bright and fresh and the upgraded technology and equipment behind the scenes provides the infrastructure a contemporary venue needs.
“This refurbishment reflects what our customers want from the venue and our own ambitions for its future use.”

From next month the Reid Hall, Webster Memorial Theatre and a number of other council venues will be operated by the new Angus Alive culture and leisure trust, with ownership remaining unchanged.
