The man who died in an early-morning crash on the outskirts of Arbroath on Saturday has been named locally as Scott Williams.
Mr Williams, 33, lived in Arbroath and was a well known local DJ. It is understood he had a young daughter.
He was driving a white Ford Focus which hit a wall on the Arbroath to Lunan road, about a mile north of its junction to Auchmithie.
The car left the road and ended up on its side in a field.
Hundreds of people have paid tribute to Mr Williams online.
One said: “In total shock. You were a total gent Scott. Always had a smile on your face.”
Another added: “Taken far too soon. In total shock. You were lovely, kind-hearted funny and would do anything for anyone.
“My thoughts are with your family, most of all your beautiful little girl.”
Police received a call about the crash at 6.54am on Saturday though it is thought the incident happened some time earlier.
Paramedics attended and Mr Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed following the accident as police crash scene investigators tried to establish what happened. It reopened on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Williams is thought to have been travelling alone and there is no indication that another vehicle was involved.
Speaking at the scene Sergeant Rory Fairbairn said: “We are dealing with a fatal road accident involving a 33-year-old local male.
“It is a single-vehicle accident which happened in the early hours of this morning.
“The inquiry is at an early stage and the road is currently closed while crash investigations are carried out. The investigation should establish when the accident happened.
“The vehicle will be recovered and the road will be reopened later today.”
Mr Williams’s next of kin have been informed of his death, although formal identification will not take place until Monday.
