An Angus Scottish country dance musician has been honoured by hundreds of people who came to pay their respects at his funeral.
John Ellis, 85, from Tealing, recorded many albums and featured regularly on TV and radio as the fiddler and bandleader of the John Ellis Highland Country Band.
John suffered from prostate cancer and died of the disease on November 14 after a four-year battle.
More than 300 people attended his funeral, with many more people contacting John’s family to pay their respects.
His daughter, Joan Davenport, said: “I didn’t realise just how well regarded he was, if I’m honest.
“I’ve met people who have told me he was an inspiration to them.
“He was so hard-working and down-to-earth.
“He will be sorely missed by the community the music has stopped.”
John is survived by his wife Pat, Joan and 10-year-old grandson Jack.
John married Pat in 1969 at Murroes Church in Kellas, where his funeral was held.
