Police are probing attempted break-ins to cash machines in the north-east.
The first incident occurred at the Clydesdale Bank on Ann Street in Stonehaven at around 3.40am on Sunday.
A further attempted break-in happened at the Bank of Scotland on Constitution Street, Inverurie, at around 6.50am and police are keeping an open mind as to whether or not they are linked.
Detective Inspector Graeme Mackie, who is leading the inquiry, said: “We are also working closely with our colleagues in the Merseyside area who have been investigating similar crimes to establish who is responsible for these incidents and whether they are linked.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
