Inspirational Angus twins Ayley and Chloe Hirsch are hoping to celebrate their sixth birthday with a visit from pop superstars One Direction.
A campaign is under way to bring the world’s biggest boyband to their Carnoustie home in July and top off an incredible couple of years for the girls.
Ayley and Chloe are huge fans of the band that found fame on The X Factor and know the words to all of their hit songs.
The girls have previously asked their mother, Averil, if they can meet them but last week Chloe asked if she could get the 1D boys to come to their birthday party.
Averil told her friend Sue Murray about the “must have” gift and Sue has since set up a Facebook page in a bid to make Ayley and Chloe’s dream come true.
So far more than 5,000 people have been invited to share the page and Sue hopes the 1D party invite will eventually go viral and reach all corners of the globe.
Averil told The Courier: “It’s a very long shot but both girls are huge fans and I think after everything they have been through that it is worth a try.
“Ayley and Chloe know all the One Direction songs and they sing and dance to them at home.
“Just last week Chloe asked if 1D would come to their birthday party. It really would be the icing on the cake if they could get the chance to meet their idols.”
The five-year-old twins, who suffer from cerebral palsy, were unable to walk before parents Averil and Frazer raises funds for life-changing surgery in the United States.
Averil was unaware of the surgery before reading in The Courier how Perthshire toddler Jack McNaughton, who suffered from the same condition, got his mobility back after being operated on in the US following a fundraising drive.
The Help Ayley and Chloe Walk campaign was started after the Hirsches had an emotional meeting with the McNaughtons.
Inspired by Jack’s story, Averil and Frazer set themselves the target of £80,000, but more than £175,000 flooded in from the community.
The twins travelled to St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri in January 2012 and their lives have since been transformed.
