Groups urged to join Arbroath Homecoming festivities
ByThe Courier Reporter
The organisers of Arbroath’s Homecoming event in April are looking for groups to join in with the celebrations.
The event on April 5 and 6 marks the start of the Tartan Day Scotland Festival 2014.
Although Arbroath’s Homecoming weekend already has an extensive programme of historical re-enactments, live music and street theatre, the organisers are keen to involve as many community groups as possible.
There is an opportunity for dancers, singers, bands, choirs, amateur dramatic and musical theatre groups to showcase their talents and skills to the thousands of visitors who are expected to be attracted to the event.
Possible performance areas include Arbroath Abbey, along Arbroath High Street and at Arbroath harbour.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to participate in the entertainment programme, should email ClarkeM@angus.gov.uk.
During the weekend there will be free entry to Arbroath Abbey. A re-enactment of the signing of the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath by Arbroath Abbey Timethemes will take place on April 6.
