A former Angus husband and wife at the centre of a bizarre court case were involved in consecutive criminal matters at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday.
In a twist of timetabling, Mark Ronald Law and Wendy Law had cases called before Sheriff Kevin Veal at Forfar, five months after Mrs Law had been given a good behaviour order for posting an explicit message about her ex-husband in the kitchen window of their former marital home.
Mr Law, 53, was first to appear in the dock in relation to a charge of illegally possessing ammunition.
He appeared on summary complaint, having initially made a petition appearance in private at Forfar last year.
The charge alleges that between November 1 2012 and January 30 2013, at 2 Eastmill Brae, Brechin, he possessed, without holding a firearms certificate in force at the time, 104 rounds of .270 ammunition and 50 rounds of .22 ammunition.
Law, represented by solicitor Mike Short, had his case continued without plea until March 27. His bail was continued.
The case of former Brechin community councillor Mrs Law, 63, was then called, five months after Sheriff Veal had imposed a good behaviour order in relation to the bizarre notice she posted in their former home on June 3 last year.
The content of the sign made an allegation regarding her ex-husband, who she had been separated from for a number of months.
The sign, and a loofah she placed alongside it, related to alleged sexual practices of the accused’s estranged spouse.
Mrs Law had been drinking before putting the items in the window and thought better of her actions when she woke the following morning.
By that time, however, the sign had been seen and a photograph taken of it.
Her solicitor, Michael Boyd, said Mrs Law had been of good behaviour during the long-term deferred sentence.
Sheriff Veal said: “I am going to run this on the end of May. That will be a year since the offence was committed and an appropriate time to look at this matter again.”
The case was continued until May 30.
