Forfar residents have been praised for their support during the investigation of a “suspicious incident” last week.
Police are investigating after a young girl was approached by a man in a white van.
Officers are still following leads after the trade van drew up by the scooter-riding 10-year-old last Wednesday.
Inspector Ali Robertson said residents on nearby Westfield Loan, Dundee Road, Old Halkerton Road and further afield had been patient during a time of sustained police activity.
He said: “Inquiries are ongoing and we are continuing to treat the matter appropriately with high-visibility patrols in the area.
“We would also like to thank the public for their support shown so far.”
The incident, to which police are “still looking for witnesses”, happened on Westfield Loan at its junction with Old Halkerton Road at 5.40pm.
The occupant tried to talk to the girl before driving off.
Police said the van was “very dirty” with smear marks down the side and a small dent in the rear passenger side.
The man is believed to be about 60 and either balding or sporting very short hair.
