A legal highs addict who took money from his mother’s bank account has been remanded in custody.
Robert Nutten was given the card to get money from machines in Montrose to transfer to his sister’s account.
Although he did transfer most of the withdrawals, Forfar Sheriff Court heard the 30-year-old kept £20 of the cash to feed his habit.
Appearing from custody before Sheriff Gregor Murray, Nutten, of Condor Crescent in Montrose, admitted four charges of stealing a total of £110 from cash machines in Montrose on February 17, while subject to five bail orders.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing a handwash set from Davidson’s, Forfar, on March 6 and four breaches of a bail curfew on successive days between March 12 and 15.
Nutten also admitted stealing a quantity of dairy and meat products from the Co-op, Montrose, on March 15, also while on bail.
Defence solicitor Bob Bruce said: “His mother gave him the card but he went beyond what he was asked to take out. To his credit, he put the £90 into his sister’s account, which he was supposed to.
“He has a legal high habit and this has been getting him into difficulty. He also has a historical heroin habit and that is at the root of all his problems.”
Sheriff Murray told Nutten his record and the latest offences required him to be remanded in custody for a deferral of sentence until April 9.
