An Arbroath aviation enthusiast is gearing up for a bucket list moment when the world famous Red Arrows come to town this summer.
The town’s world-renowned Squadron Prints business is backing the Festival of Heroes event after Gill Howie and Berry Vissers handed over a cheque for £1,000 in support of the June spectacle.
Gill, an aviation enthusiast, and Berry, a former technician with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, have supported the Festival of Heroes event from the start.
Gill said “It’s a great pleasure to be part of something this big for the town.
“As aviation enthusiasts and with a business that is connected to the aviation industry, there are many things that Berry and I enjoy, and seeing the Red Arrows and all of the associated displays coming to life on the day of the event is something that we feel proud to be part of and proud to sponsor as a business.
“For me personally, seeing the Red Arrows back in Arbroath is one off of the bucket list and we’re really looking forward to June 4.”
Event chairman Jamie Buchan said: “It was Gill who was integral in securing the services of the Red Arrows with the relevant paperwork and phone calls.
“Once the Festival of Heroes plan started to gain momentum, I asked Gill to bring her wealth of experience to join the festival committee and her business, Squadron Prints, have become sponsors of the event with this magnificent donation to the running costs”
Mr Buchan added: “We’ve about £10,000 still to raise, so if anyone is able to support the event or wants to trade at the event, then please get in touch via our Facebook page or by contacting me on 07786 036470”.
