Police hope Twitter photos will convince drivers to slow down in heavy rain

Police have shamed speeding motorists who were forced to slam on the brakes after hitting standing water on the A90 in Angus.
Heavy rain caused floods on the busy trunk road on Monday and Police Scotland’s road policing unit for Tayside parked up at the side of the dual carriageway at Brechin Stracathro, with flashing lights on to warn drivers.
However, some motorists ignored their presence and were forced to brake sharply as they hit the water.
Officers posted several pictures on Twitter to shame the culprits and warn others of the hazards.
The lane was closed and the officers added: “Folks, in times of heavy rain, expect flooding and please drive accordingly. See blue lights ahead, slow down on approach. There for a reason.”
The A937 was also closed at Marykirk due to flooding and diversions were put in place.
