The entrance to an Angus beauty spot has been the subject of vandalism only weeks after receiving a new coat of paint.
Pillars at the way in to Victoria Park, Arbroath, have been tagged with spray paint after the area was spruced up, ahead of the annual fireworks display on November 5.
Costly repairs are to be undertaken at public expense.
Angus Council’s neighbourhood services convener, Councillor Donald Morrison, said: “It is extremely disappointing to see the damage caused by this vandalism, especially at times of severe budget cuts.
“Once we have reviewed the extent of the vandalism we will look at how much this will cost to repair.
“We would urge anyone who has any information about this latest incident, or who wishes to discuss any issues relating to vandalism, to call the council ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778 or contact the police.”
The vandalism is the latest example of a rash of incidents in the town involving spray paints.
