The case against a man charged with causing the death of a baby through careless driving in the Mearns has been dropped.
Chavdar Ivanov, 30, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in private last year facing a charge of death by careless driving in relation to a crash on the A937 Laurencekirk to Montrose road.
Bojidar Katsarov died after he was prematurely delivered when his 27-year-old mother was involved in the crash on November 12 2013.
The crash involving two BMW 3 Series cars near Balmanno Cottages, Marykirk, saw both vehicles crash through a cottage fence.
Baby Bojidar was born at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but doctors were unable to save his life.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has now confirmed that no further action is to be taken against Mr Ivanov.
He said: “After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances in this case Crown counsel instructed that there should be no further proceedings taken.”
