Volunteers dig in for dragonfly home project at Crombie Country Park
ByGraham Brown
Outdoor enthusiasts have dug in to help create a happy home for dragonflies at an Angus country park.
The Crombie event was organised by the British Dragonfly Society as part of a wider project to enhance the local habitat for damselflies and dragonflies.
They spend as much as six years underwater as larvae and live for just a few weeks as an adult after emerging.
Open and vegetated water is the best environment for the insects and Wednesday’s Angus project will be followed by a similar event at Morton Lochs, near Tayport on Wednesday.
