Vilnis Jakubausks, 33, of Glenmoy Terrace, Forfar, appeared from custody at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Monday following the incident on Saturday. He admitted driving with excess alcohol, 72 mics, on Bruce Road, Arbroath. The court heard Jakubausks was seen by police officers on mobile patrol. Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said: “Their attention was drawn to the vehicle as a result of a faulty headlight. “Both officers approached the vehicle to inform the accused of the headlight and as they approached they could smell alcohol on his breath.” Jakubausks provided a specimen of breath and was subsequently taken to Arbroath police office. Defence agent Billy Rennie said his client works in a chicken factory and is married with a seven-month-old child. Sheriff Peter Paterson banned Jakubausks from driving for three years and six months and ordered the forfeiture of his Renault Scenic, worth £700.
