The funeral of a former president of the Royal British Legion Scotland in Angus takes place today.
Former Montrose branch chief David Watson died aged 82.
A branch spokesman said: “His service to the branch has been without bounds, giving long service as welfare officer, and area and national representative.
“He also currently served as chairman of the social club.
“David has been suffering ill health for some time, yet continued to battle with this and served the local branch loyally throughout.
“His service to the community will be greatly missed.”
Mr Watson was a stalwart of the Episcopal Church in Montrose, latterly as verger.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Tracey and Mark, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at St Mary’s & St Peter’s Church, Montrose, at 11.30am, thereafter to Parkgrove Crematorium.
Family flowers only, donations in lieu of flowers will to go to the Legion’s Social Club.
