A domestic abuser has been given his second community work order, after a court heard he is unlikely to stop his binge drinking.
Vladislavas Belkinas, 39, was ordered to carry out 120 hours’ unpaid work within a year, after appearing before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar to be sentenced for an assault on his former partner at an address in Brechin’s Middleton Park on October 19 last year.
The court heard the pair have separated and there is no chance of reconciliation.
Belkinas’s solicitor said: “The underlying theme of reports relates to his problems with alcohol and he tells me quite candidly he is still drinking. He doubts very much if he will be able to control his drinking problem without help and he has no recollection of the offence.”
Sheriff Murray noted a previous analogous offence and imposed a higher number of unpaid work hours as a direct alternative to prison. Belkinas will also be subject to supervision under the community payback order.
