The true spirit of Christmas came to life in Angus with the hosting of a special festive get-together.
Arbroath mum Kerry Swankie gave up spending Christmas Day with her family to cook lunch for people who would otherwise have been alone.
The Christmas lunch at the CAFE Project in Arbroath saw hot food served up and gave people a chance to spend some time with others and have a chat.
Kerry, 38, works as an admissions adviser at Dundee and Angus College and was inspired to organise the event by a colleague who had taken on a similar challenge last year.
She used Facebook to ask for advice on where to hold the lunch and for help pulling the many strings of her plans together.
Within a week, her idea was almost complete and the mother of two said she was left “overwhelmed” by the response from the community. Pubs, hotels and restaurants got in touch with donations of food and cash and made it a day to remember.
Kerry said: “There are lots of people who might be feeling down this Christmas or can’t afford it so I thought it would be nice to put on this dinner.”
Arbroath councillor Ewan Smith said: “I don’t have words for how much I admire Kerry for this completely selfless act.”
