A young engineer has been fined and banned after topping the ton on the Dundee to Arbroath dual carriageway.
Apprentice Deivids Valls, of Bannoch Rise, Broughty Ferry, was on his way to a nightshift in Montrose when police spotted his car travelling at speed at Salmondsmuir on the A92.
Depute fiscal Robbie Brown told Forfar Sheriff Court the offence happened at 5.10pm when the roadside officers saw it was “fairly obvious” Valls was travelling over the limit and a speed gun reading recorded 105mph.
The accused’s solicitor said his 20-year-old client had a clean driving licence since passing his test in January 2014.
“He had been on his way to work in Montrose, working the nightshift, and was running late,” said the agent.
“It is a matter of great regret to him and he understands that the speed libelled puts him in jeopardy of losing his licence, which is important to him for both employment and family reasons.”
Valls was fined £450 and disqualified for 60 days.
