Pub-goers help out as Valentine’s Day sees dramatic leap year proposal on Arbroath beach
ByDave Lord
An Angus woman has taken advantage of the leap year tradition a little early by popping the question on Valentine’s Day.
Mary Bernard, who frequents The Anchor Bar in Arbroath, organised a surprise wedding proposal with a little help from regulars of the pub.
While the patrons spelt out details of the unusual proposal on the beach at Victoria Park, Mary, 32, and her boyfriend Kriss Burness went for a stroll.
And as they approached the scene, Mary dropped to one knee and asked the big question.
Kriss, 32, was delighted to accept and the pair returned to the pub for a celebratory glass of fizz.
* This was not the only surprising proposal over the Valentine’s weekend. For more on this story and more romantic developments pick up Monday’s Courier or try our digital edition.
