Man hurled brick through window on to couple’s mattress

A court has heard how a man narrowly missed a couple with a seven kilogramme brick he threw into a house in a Forfar incident.
Scott Livie launched the 18cm by 12cm block into the living-room of a house at Viewmount, smashing a £200 window before it landed on a mattress where the occupants had been sleeping seconds before.
The town’s sheriff court heard 24-year-old offshore worker Livie, of Lentlands Road, Forfar, had fallen out with one of the people who lived in the flat.
The couple’s bedroom was not decorated so they pulled a mattress through to sleep on the living-room floor each night and on November 2 had done that around 2am. They watched television until around 3.30 but then heard screaming from outside.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said there was then a loud bang, they got up off the mattress and seconds later the brick came through the window, pulling down blinds and landing inches from where they had been.
They looked out of the flat and saw Livie standing there. Police arrived shortly after and the accused was subsequently arrested.
Sheriff Gregor Murray fined Livie £400 and ordered him to pay £200 compensation.
