Visitors to Auchmithie were taken on a trip back in time at the weekend as part of the annual HAAR festival.
Heritage Arts Auchmithie Residents has been busy preparing for its ninth annual festival for months and this year’s event saw the return of old favourites of Ecky Dunder, Maggie Swankie and all the other historic residents who re-enacted the history of the village out on the streets of Auchmithie itself.
Fishwifies sat doing their washing on Fountain Square, fishermen mingled at the look-out with their baiting lines, having a good gossip, a wee song and sharing trade secrets on how to keep out of the way of the excise man.
Teas were served in the village hall, along with crafts, fun events for the children, a flower festival in the church and a display of fascinating archive material.
Delicious fish snacks were also on sale including the famous smokie being prepared fresh from a barrel outside the village hall.
