Barry Links rail station in Angus remains the most under-used in Courier Country, it has emerged.
The station where just two trains stop per day served just 40 passengers in 2013/14, down from 52 the previous year.
Golf Street in Carnoustie was used by just 90 people, down from 112 in 2012/13, according to figures from the Office of Rail Regulation.
Elsewhere, passenger numbers were generally up across Courier Country despite widespread dismay publicly over rail prices being pushed up again.
North East Scotland MSP Alex Johnstone said: “I welcome these figures, which suggest a vote of confidence in public transport, as well as in the investment that we have seen in many of our railway stations.
“This, of course, brings its own challenges. With increasing rail users, it is important that enough seating is provided and travellers also have access to information giving them the cheapest fares.”
“I would also hope that more can be done to promote the less frequently used stations such as Barry and Golf Street.”
Figures for Balmossie at Monifieth saw an increase in passengers from 1,078 to 1,446; Arbroath rose from 388,320 to 388,612; and Montrose increased from 390,140 to 386,209.
Elsewhere in Angus, an increase at Monifieth from 2,570 to 3,122 was attributed to an increase in services due to a 2013 timetable change.
Carnoustie numbers also soared from 107,758 to 120,432 but the reason for the increase was described as “unclear.”
Dundee numbers went up from 1,690,486 to 1,737,444 last year while Broughty Ferry footfall increased from 23,180 to 34,970.
The Broughty Ferry increase was put down to a “likely continued ramp-up of commuter demand” since a new timetable was introduced in 2011.
Fife saw increases at all its stations, with 1,202,228 using Inverkeithing and 1,029,702 passengers at Kirkcaldy.
Perthshire stations also went up across the board last year, with the exception of a slight decrease at Blair Atholl.
In the Mearns, Laurencekirk numbers jumped from 92,470 to 102,770 while there was also a rise in Stonehaven from 510,412 to 528,307.
