Man jailed for eight years after killing Angus pensioner in hit-and-run

A man has been jailed for killing an Angus pensioner in a hit-and-run while high on drugs.
Paul Mowatt knocked down Kenneth Robertson after taking cannabis, methadone and Valium in August 2013.
Mowatt hit Mr. Robertson on the B113 Forfar to Montrose road while the 89-year-old was out for a summer stroll.
The 34-year-old then fled the scene leaving his victim with with leg fractures, rib and neck injuries.
The retired farmer was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment but died two weeks later from a stroke.
Mowatt admitted causing Mr Robertson’s death by driving dangerously under the influence of drugs.
He also pled guilty to failing to stop and report the accident to police as well as a separate charge of driving dangerously on the A90 dual carriageway on the same day.
At the High Court in Aberdeen, Lord Burns sentenced him to eight years in prison and banned him from driving for 15 years. at the High Court in Aberdeen.
