Domino’s Pizza has opened for business in Arbroath, creating up to 35 jobs in the process.
The newly-built outlet on Condor Drive employs 20 full and part-time staff, with plans to add significantly to that number over the next month or so.
It is the third shop in the Tayside area to be run by franchisee Henry Dawes.
He already operates takeaways at City Quay and Panmurefield Village, Dundee.
Mr Dawes is confident that Arbroath will prove to be a great success and has adopted popular elements from his Dundee enterprise, including an area where customers can see their pizzas being freshly made.
He is pleased to be making a positive impact on the local jobs market and said: “We have hired 20 new staff and will be hiring another 15 in the next month or so. That is 30 to 35 new jobs for Arbroath.”
In-house training is provided for all positions, including pizza makers, customer service posts and delivery drivers, with potential for progression within the Domino’s group.
The site was developed by Carswell Properties Ltd.
With the Arbroath store open for business, Mr Dawes is also looking to develop another store on a three-unit derelict site at Dunsinane Industrial Estate.
He has submitted plans to deliver a new Domino’s where the former Valentines factory once stood.
The pizza chain could be joined at the development by one of Scotland’s first drive-through Starbucks.
The US coffee chain has acquired the lease for one of the units.
