A fuel poverty scheme has been extended in Angus following the response from under-pressure residents.
After the Big Energy Savings Week campaign, Angus Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) officials have revealed the intention is to keep open a phone line and dedicated website to help greater numbers in the district.
“Our Big Energy Saving Week campaign was about giving people clear advice on how to cut their fuel bills,” said Broadening Citizens Advice Services Tayside project manager, Mairi Buchanan.
“Throughout the week we held three special events across Angus and had over 100 enquiries.”
Information stands were supported by an energy efficiency customer liaison officer from SSE and representatives from Angus Care & Repair and SCARF.
“The advice is free, and can be obtained from www.bigenergysavingweek.org.uk or 0808 808 2282, or of course at your local CAB.
“This advice has been shown to really work for consumers, so we want everyone to know about it.
“Additionally, home energy assessments can be carried out by contacting Angus Care & Repair on 01307 463232 and SCARF (Energy Saving Scotland) on 01224 21300,” said Mairi.
Last year the Scottish CAB service helped Scots access more than £250,000 in advice to cut their fuel bills.
