John McMillan Towns, 45, was fully committed when he appeared in private at Forfar Sheriff Court. He is charged with two offences, one under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and another relating to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. It is understood his arrest follows an incident in which a two-year-old girl was injured. He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail. Co-accused Elaine Towns, 38, did not appear in court. The dates for their next court appearance are still to be set. The young girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the incident on Glamis Road in Kirriemuir shortly after midday on February 27. A dog was removed as part of the investigation.
