Bank launches bid to repossess Liz McColgan’s Carnoustie mansion

Bank of Scotland has launched a court action to take possession of former sports star Liz McColgan’s Angus mansion.

The action concerns Panbride House at Panbride, by Carnoustie, the house the Olympian shared with her former husband, Peter.

The bank is seeking to take possession and be given the right to sell the nine-bedroom house.

The home was put on the market a year ago, after McColgan’s heath club went into liquidation with reported debts of £800,000, but has failed to sell.

When the case called for the first time at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Monday, the matter was deferred for three months to see if settlement can be reached between the parties.

Julie Young, acting for Bank of Scotland, said this time would allow for “negotiation between the parties with a view of resolution”.

There was no representation from the McColgans.

Panbride House is being advertised by Savills for £680,000.

The property boasts a tennis court in its six acres of grounds and a separate lodge, which is being marketed for £150,000.

McColgan, 49, who won an Olympic silver medal in 1988 and two Commonwealth Games gold medals and whose daughter, Eilish, competed at the Olympic Games in London, revealed earlier this month that she had remarried.

She now lives in Barrow Upon Soar, a village between Leicester and Loughborough, with her new husband, John Nuttall.
