A young Angus boy who was struck down by a car in Brechin is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
The seven-year-old was critically injured in an accident while trying to cross Latch Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident at around 5pm and the boy was taken to Ninewells Hospital.
He was initially assessed as “critical” but his condition changed to “serious but stable” as of this morning.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland Tayside Division said: “As of 6.45am this morning he is described as serious but stable.
“Tayside Division will be carrying out enquiries into the full set of circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The full extent of the youngster’s injuries has yet to be disclosed. It is understood that the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident was shocked, but uninjured.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward and have asked anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the accident to contact them on 101.
