Fire in Forfar tenement block

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a Forfar flat blaze this morning amid fears that a child inside.

They were called to the three-storey tenement block in the town’s Goosecroft just after 11am.

The blaze is understood to have started in the bedroom of a second-floor flat.

Fire crews soon established there was no-one inside, but a number of near neighbours were checked for smoke inhalation.

Forfar firefighters using breathing apparatus and hose jets tackling the blaze.

An additional appliance from Dundee’s Kingsway station was also sent to the scene.
