Two Angus residents have denied charges of animal cruelty towards a dog.
Lesley Beattie, 32, of Declaration Way, Arbroath, and Glenn William Matthewson, 38, of Ethie Mains, Inverkeilor, are accused of a variety of offences towards a 13-year-old bichon frise, contrary to the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
The charge alleges that between May 1 and August 1 this year at Declaration Way, Arbroath, the pair failed to provide the dog with grooming care, leading to it have a severely matted coat and overgrown nails.
It is also alleged that they did not obtain the necessary vet treatment for two large tumours on the female dog’s neck which were raw, ulcerated and infected.
It is also claimed that the dog had an infection in both eyes, causing the eyelids of the right eye to close together, rendering it unable to see.
