Edzell man admits having sex with 13-year-old girl

An Angus man has admitted having sex with an underage girl.

Daniel McPhail, 21, of Dunlappie Road, Edzell, admitted committing sex acts with the 13-year-old between April 1 and May 31 2012 at an address in Angus.

Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said a police operation revealed “a number of other adult males” in contact with the complainer.

The court heard several other men had since been convicted in relation to the teenager.

“The complainer’s mobile telephone was seized by police and that revealed the accused to them,” she said.

The fiscal explained the act was “fully consensual” and both had agreed to meet.

One previous road traffic conviction was admitted and sentence was deferred to October 8 for reports.

McPhail was made subject to notification requirements of the sex offenders register.
