A woman has lost her baby following a car crash in the Mearns.
The two-vehicle crash happened just before 11am on Tuesday and a pregnant 27-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The woman, who was seven months pregnant, delivered the baby in hospital. Sadly, police confirmed that her baby had died.
The baby has been named asBojidar Katsarov.
The accident, involving a black BMW and a silver BMW, happened on the A937 at Marykirk.
The road remained closed while investigations took place.
Sergeant Rob Warnock said: “This is a tragic incident where sadly a baby has died. Our sympathies at this very difficult time are with the families affected by this collision.
“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
