Professional warning for speeding childcare worker
ByThe Courier Reporter
An Angus childcare worker has been given a professional warning over speeding on the A90 while a charge was in the car.
Alison Hill admitted driving a company car at 84mph on the dual carriageway between Aberdeen and Dundee on April 17 last year, placing herself and the service user at risk of harm.
A panel of the Scottish Social Services Council in Dundee imposed a 12-month warning on her registration on the Register for Residential Child Care Workers.
At a misconduct hearing, the body found the offence to demonstrate “a disregard for the law and a breach of the trust and confidence placed in social service workers.”
In Ms Hill’s favour, the council considered her prompt admission of the facts to her employer and the council, demonstrated insight into why the behaviour was wrong, expressed remorse for her actions, and had no previous history of misconduct with employer or council.
Having been advised of the consequences and been recommended to take legal advice, Ms Hill admitted the charge and misconduct and consented to the imposition of a warning.
