An Angus builder has had his restricted goods vehicle operator’s licence suspended for eight weeks after a public inquiry.
Ian Robbie, 67, from Letham, had a licence which allowed him to keep one vehicle at his home on Nechtan Place.
However, he failed to update his licence when he moved house to Watson Street in the village in 2010.
This came to light in May, when he applied for the licence to be renewed.
The central licensing unit advised him he would have to make a variation, which resulted in two objections from his neighbours.
Complaints received related to noise, fumes, visual intrusion, early operation of vehicles and road safety in relation to East Blairs Road, off Watson Street.
In her written judgment, Joan Aitken, traffic commissioner for Scotland, ruled Mr Robbie will no longer be able to keep a lorry at his new home.
She wrote: “That address is private residential in nature and is not an appropriate location for a vehicle used in connection with a builder’s business.
“Mr Robbie is now in a position whereby he has a licence, a lorry but no operating centre. He has made a temporary arrangement.
“I consider that to meet the requirements of operator licensing… and to mark my dissatisfaction with Mr Robbie’s conduct in relation to having a suitable operating centre, I should suspend this licence until Mr Robbie lodges a variation application to nominate an operating centre in a location non- residential in nature.”
She added: “There will be a minimum period of suspension of eight weeks to reflect my dissatisfaction with Mr Robbie’s conduct.”
