They have fought in combat zones across the world.
But for their latest role they were hired to protect King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table.
Former Arbroath-based Royal Marines Stuart Lavery and Richard Hartshorne worked for three days as security guards on Guy Ritchie’s new movie.
Ritchie was filming Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur which is expected to be the first of six films starring Charlie Hunnam as the once and future king.
Ritchie has also cast French-Spanish actor Astrid Berges-Frisbey as Guinevere, Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, Djimon Hounsou as Bedivere and Jude Law as villain Vortigen.
Mr Lavery said: “We enjoyed our experience working on the Isle of Skye which is a beautiful part of Scotland.
“The booking came through the company we worked with during the Commonwealth Games when we also worked as security guards.
“It’s not the first time I’ve worked as security on a film set and it is something that I enjoy doing.
“Guy Ritchie was a great bloke and he was happy to pose for a photograph with us.
“He was down to earth and it looked like the film was a lot of fun to work on.
“We didn’t see Jude Law or Eric Bana but we did meet Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy who plays King Arthur.”
Mr Lavery said he was looking forward to seeing the completed film when it comes out at the cinema next year.
The film’s security duo is not the only link that Ritchie has to Arbroath’s 45 Commando.
The director recently finished filming a big screen adaptation of The Man from UNCLE starring Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill.
Cavill’s brother Nik served with 45 Commando in Afghanistan and the actor is a stalwart fundraising supporter of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
Ritchie, who was previously married to Madonna, was handpicked by Warner Bros to direct the film series that will debut with its first of six installments on July 22 2016.
