Three in hospital after dramatic rugby match in Forfar
ByThe Courier Reporter
Three ambulances, two yellow cards and a red, as well as a switch of pitches, were the talking points of an eventful rugby match in Forfar.
Strathmore RFC hosted Highland RFC at Inchmacoble Park on Saturday, with the visitors rattling in 26 points without reply by half-time.
One of their players was sent off as the break approached, however, and the home side started to claw their way back.
The match then took a shocking turn, when two Highland players clashed and suffered nasty head knocks.
Separate ambulances were summoned and the game eventually continued.
Then, with three minutes remaining, a third Highland player was knocked unconscious, leading to another ambulance being called and the game being switched to the second XV pitch for the remaining moments.
The game ended 29-38 to the visitors, well over two hours after kick-off.
The three injured players were all recovering at home on Sunday night.
